I just finished reading "Heiress" the sequel to Melanie Atkinson's first book titled, "Sea Dweller". Again I wasn't disappointed, but riveted as I could hardly wait to bury myself in each chapter. A friend of mine described her feelings after she finished reading "Sea Dweller". She told me that on the one hand she never wanted to stop reading, and couldn't wait to get to the end of the book to find out what would happen in the story. But on the other hand, she felt like she needed to slow down her reading so she wouldn't get to the finish of the story. Sadly, the enjoyment from reading the book would then be over. Her explanation perfectly describes my feelings as I read both books.The characters in "Heiress" have endeared themselves to me. They are described so realistically in the story that you can't help but feel their emotions and understand each individual personality. As Aylen struggles to become the leader and hope of her people, you begin to understand and sympathize with her as she overcomes so many of the difficulties she must face.
I am very pleased to give "Heiress" a five star rating. Readers will not be disappointed in this wonderful book. It is a fantastic adventure from start to finish. I can't wait for book three!

I love this series, and can't wait for the next book. When the last page was read I I couldn't believe it was ended, I closed and opened it again hoping I made a mistake, but no. Now the long wait.....
I am amazed at the depth of understanding in a writer so young. Melanie taps into the emotions of all of us so well and transcribes it into a fabulous and riveting storyline. I can't wait to get my hands on the final book. Please hurry!
New favorite series, new favorite author
Awesome book can't wait to read the next! I'll read this whole series ten times, I just loved it!! Read book one (sea dweller) and book two (heiress) so worth the money!! I'll end by saying, Melanie Atkinson you are an awesome writer, can't wait for the third book!!
Read Heiress in one go and stayed up most the night! It was a great sequel and I look forward to part 3. Melanie Atkinson knows how to draw a reader into a whole new world.
Once again Melanie has done an amazing job in creating a story that puts you in the middle of it! I did not want this story to end and can visualize it as movie. Her words create a picture that you can follow through out the story. I like how she had the characters thoughts portrayed in separate chapters - made them more personal. I read the first book 'Sea Dweller' again before reading this one and the story flowed. Hurry Melanie with the next one!
Even better than the first! Heiress really packed in the adventure and pulled me in. Rarely does a book make me tear up without annoying me. I hate the forced emotion that one usually finds in novels and so when it's clear an author is trying to get me to cry and I'm moved against my will (and logic), I'm bothered. Yet in Heiress, the writing and emotion is so natural that one can't helped but be touched. Nothing forced here. Love it, love it, love it. Can't wait for book 3!
This was refreshingly different from anything else I've read, and a wonderful and enchanting follow up to Sea dweller. I wanted to binge on the whole book. I never wanted to put it down. Now I'm sad that it is over and I have to wait and see what happens next. Melanie!!!! Hurry up! And good job
